Why the best RevOps teams are killing the quarterly forecast

A growing cohort of operators is replacing the sacred quarterly forecast with rolling, scenario-based planning. Here's what they're learning.

The traditional quarterly forecast has been a staple of business planning for decades. But as markets move faster and uncertainty increases, forward-looking companies are experimenting with alternatives.

We spoke with RevOps leaders at three high-growth companies about what they're learning from scenario-based planning, how they're managing stakeholder expectations in the transition, and what's actually working.

"The quarterly forecast was always a fiction anyway," says one VP of Sales. "We're just making it explicit now."

The shift isn't about being less rigorous. If anything, it's the opposite. Rolling forecasts require constant scenario modeling and deeper data discipline. But the payoff is a more honest conversation about risk and optionality.

For teams considering the move, the early lesson is clear: this isn't about the tool. It's about changing how you think about planning itself.
